Robin Hood: high-cost rubbish

After watching numerous adaptations of the same story, I couldn’t help but to walk into the theaters with an open mind—maybe even with a hint of hope. Unfortunately, the newest composition of the Robin Hood tale was an epic letdown.

The Last Night of Ballyhoo: Solid conclusion to Poteat’s second year, testament to Troupe’s development

In The Last Night of Ballyhoo by Alfred Uhry, the Franklin Theatre Troupe’s last performance of the year is an exquisite example of addressing the play’s theme of societal oppression through the universal experience of laughter. With effective acting, superb set and convincing costumes, the play’s performance successfully portrayed the Jewish experience in the South on the verge of World War II.

The Tallest Man on Earth

With an exuberant relish The Wild Hunt comes to life. As the title track spins the excited, strong guitar keeps pulsing and a high soft voice laden with joyful melancholia washes over it, a soothing addition to an excellent song. The acoustic is chugging away merrily when you hear the warble: “I plan to be forgotten when I’m gone,” sings the happy voice, and despite the solemn connotations you can’t help but crack a smile.

As the last theatrical production of the year, The Last Night of Ballyhoo by Alfred Uhry will open on May 19 and will play through May 22. Teargarden by Kaleidyscope: Garbage or Gem?

Teargarden by Kaliedyscope is Corgan’s newest foray into the vast world of music. Once the 90’s biggest star, Billy Corgan a.k.a. The Smashing Pumpkins, wrote magnificent pieces of melody and hook with beautiful ease. Heavy metal guitar to sitar, the Smashing Pumpkins have been there. The genre crossing maniacs from Chicago will be “returning to the roots” says Corgan. The album as it stands so far is an interesting mix of psychedelic and rock, and indeed does recall the vibe of their first demos.
