About Us

As we began to hand out the senior issue, we realized that at this time the senior editors would hand over the reigns to us. This year, the senior editorial staff worked all year to make The Chronicle an amazing publication. They have taught us everything we know, and with their help we are confident that we can make next years publication just as successful. In particular, we would like to thank Sabrina Nunez, Karen Zamora, Hayden Pendergrass, Chris Canales, Katie Bohle, Amanda Brinegar, Ian Ekery, Karina Soares and Anthony Zaragoza. They have allowed us to grow as journalists with their assistance, and for that, we are truly grateful.  We are equally as thankful to our adviser, Mrs. Tanner. We had to endure two difficult months without her presence, which forced us to step up as editors and realize how well she has prepared us. Finally, we are looking forward to what the next school year will bring to us and the new editorial staff for The Chronicle.

It carries with it freedom and responsibility to discuss, question and challenge actions and statements of the student body, administration and other public figures. Student journalists hold the right to speak unpopular opinions and the privilege to agree with the majority. The Chronicle is a public forum of speech that is produced by students of Franklin High School once a month. The editorial board reserves the right to refuse any letter or advertisements that are not in the best interests of the school.  Views expressed in editorials are not necessarily those of the administration, newspaper staff or journalism advisers.

Hello Chronicle!! It’s me your exchange student Sanna from Estonia! I hope you haven’t forgotten me, because I will never forget you guys!
I’m super super glad that you got your web-page, and of course, it’s as stylish as everything you do. Keep up the good work and whoever reads this say hi to Miss Tanner and everybody who knows me. I’m doing well in Estonia. I’m going to night school twice a week and I’m also working at the (European) football club FC Flora. I’m a full-time secretary and my English skills are really helpful. I’m living in the capital city of Estonia in an apartment with my sister and her husband. I’m doing great, but I really miss El Paso and my people over there, who took me into their community so nicely. I miss El Paso’s hot weather!! The temperature over here is around 35 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit all day long with cold wind that makes it even worse. I can barely see clear blue sky twice a month if that often. It’s raining almost every day, sometimes it skips day or two, but that’s all. Oh well, some day I’m coming back to visit you, if I get enough money together. I just fly two days and I will be there. Bye-bye! Take care!
PS! By the way it would be super awesome when you would get last year’s issues up, too. I could show to my Estonian friends then what I wrote and the whole newspaper would be a good example to my friends. :)

I’ve seen the chronicle cover a lot of things that affect many kinds of people, but i haven’t seen anything relating to the LGBT community which statistically makes up about ten percent of the population. I just think that Franklin should be a more gay-friendly school and inform people of the LGBT community. I was just wondering if you guys have ever thought about it.

  • Hayden Pendergrass said:

Alonso, it is funny that you mention that. We do (hopefully) have an article being written about the LGBT community. We of the staff hope you will read it once it is circulated in print and/or online.

    Thank You,

    Hayden Pendergrass
    Co-Editor in Chief
